Basic Personalisation
In this first part of the article we will focus on the editing capabilities of exisitng components on a web page. These components are called WebParts. On the MyWatford.net home page there are many webparts, such as the Announcements, the Calendar, the Jobs, etc.
When you log on, next to the heading of each WebPart, you will see a down-pointing arrow. Click on it to display the WebPart menu, as shown in the figure below.
There are three options in this menu, Minimise, Close and Modify My Web Part.
Minimise This option displays only the header of the Web Part, and hides all the information below the header. You can then restore the normal view later if you wish.
Close This option closes the Web Part so that it is no longer visible on the page. We will discuss in the Advanced Personalisation section later in this article how we can restore closed Web Parts.
Modify My Web Part This option opens a new window on the right hand side of the web page. Here you will be able the size, position, border, and other properties, depending on which Web Part. The picture below shows for examples the properties that can be changed for the Announcements Web Part
