How to use My Watford website
My Watford home page

Please note that these pages are continually updated.  If you find fundamental errors in the documentation, and you are member, please use the Help Desk page to report it (if you are not a member, the Held Desk is not available to you, apologises for any inconvenience)

MyWatford.net is full of information.  The front page gives you an overview of all the information stored; hence, it can look quite confusing.  This Wiki article is intended to explain to you how the content is laid out, and how you can get more detailed information on individual items, or collection of item (referred to in this website as List(s)).

    The top bar (the menu at the top)

    MyWatford.net is made up of a collection of websites, each providing different services.  These are as follows:

    This is the main website providing calendaring, news, job listing, and discussion board services

    Blog

    This is the My Watford blog, providing information of use to the Voluntary Sector in Watford.  This Blog is updated by Bob Jones.

    Wiki

    The wiki is a repository of information.  All members can contribute and create Wiki pages. 

    Helpdesk

    This is a member-only area.  From here you can place support request and track their progress.

    Search

    This is THE search engine! Details of all MyWatford.net content can be searched from here, as well as all the Members’ Websites hosted by MyWatford.net

    These websites may increase with time, as more services are developed.  All of these sites are available from the top bar as shown in the picture below.  Please remember that you may need to log on to some of these websites.

    The quick link bar (the menu of the left)

    Whilst the home page is useful to get an overview of what is happening in Watford, there are some limitations.  For example, the lists only show 6 items at a time, and are filtered.  In order to view all of the information, you will need to access it via the specific page.  These are listed on the quick launch bar, as shown below

    News and Announcements

    Both the news and announcements views show the first lines for each item, we hope this will help you in identifying the items are of most interest to you.

    Please remember that only a small selection of news and announcements make it to the front page! For full listings and details visit the News page

    Announcements are news of high importance, and are listed at the top of the page, in the middle column, as shown below.  You can click on the word Announcement to go the Announcements page, or the item title to view the full text of the news item.

    News are placed just under the calendar in the middle column, as shown below.  You can click on the word News to go the News page, or the item title to view the full text of the news item.

    Calendar

    Jobs and volunteering opportunities

    The discussion boards

    Moving to the right hand side column on the page, we have an overview of the three discussions boards, as shown in the image below.  The discussion boards are organised as follows:

    Discussion Board

    Description

    General

    This is a generic discussion board.  This board is intended for topics relevant to the Voluntary Sector, but with audiences larger than either Personnel or Trustees.

    Trustees

    This discussion board is aimed specifically at Trustees of Organisations.  Please use this discussion board when your contributions are aimed at Trustees

    Staff and Volunteers

    This discussion board is aimed specifically at Staff and Volunteers of Organisations.  Please use this discussion board when your contributions are aimed at Staff and Volunteers

    You can click on the title of each discussion board to go the specific discussion board page, or click the event title to view the full text of the item.
